Grave

solemn and very slow, 25–45

Metronome at 40 BPM

Grave lies between 25 and 45 beats per minute; the metronome starts in the middle, and the tempo can be changed there.

What it means

The slowest common marking. Grave describes not only speed but bearing: weighty, serious, unhurried.
