First and second ending
first time, second time
In the score
What it means
Brackets marked 1. and 2. over the bars at the end of a repeat. On the first pass you play bracket 1 and go back; on the second you skip it and take bracket 2.
Repeat signs
The brackets over the last bars say what is played the first time and what the second. The first time round the bracket marked one applies, followed by the jump back; the second time it is skipped and you carry on in the bracket marked two.
